THE COMING OF THE AGE OF THE SIDDHAS (PART 2)

The Kaanda Nadi or revelations about individuals written by the Siddhas on dried palm leaves in the possession of Nadi readers, is being read extensively throughout India and also in other parts of the world. On the other hand only a few blessed souls have had the honor to be gifted with the mystical Jeeva Nadi, which are revelations in real time.

The late Jeeva Nadi Guru of Chennai was one blessed soul. Another blessed soul to be given the opportunity to read the Jeeva Nadi is Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal of the Sri Agathiyar Sri Thava Murugar Gnana Peedham at Kallar. Tavayogi has been blessed to receive the Jeeva Nadi. He began reading it since 2011 and only on Saturdays. Later Agathiyar graciously permitted Tavayogi to read on Wednesdays too.

Tavayogi told me once, do not take on the sorrows of others, but point them to Agathiyar. Yes. There is a way indeed. Take an appointment with Agathiyar. Listen to him address our problems through the mystical Jeeva Nadi or as my friend from Slovenia calls it the Oracle. Place your sorrows at Agathiyar's feet. Let him find you a solution out of your predicament. The most compassionate Agathiyar shall advise you on what to do next. Go with faith and belief. Receive the message conveyed to you by Agathiyar through the Nadi. Do not probe the vessel through which the message is conveyed. If there are atonement or parikaram carry them out with sincerity and diligently. All will end well. Many devotees have benefited from these revelations.

I have yet to have the Jeeva Nadi revelations read to me by Agathiyar through Tavayogi, although I have had readings from the Kaanda Nadi by Nadi Guru Sentilkumar of Avinash and various other Nadis by Nadi Guru Ramesh of Kumbakonam.

To know more about the Jeeva Nadi and the Siddhas' revelations drop in on Velayudham Karthikeyan's blog Siththan Arul. Some of these revelations are also available and have been published in 5 volumes by Aranthangi Shanker entitled NADI SOLLUM KATHAIGAL.

Many years back I was passed a document titled SIDDHA AGASTHYA – FOREMOST OF THE SIDDHAS by Nadi Guru Ramesh. In it were amazing revelations about Agathiyar, the Siddhas and their contributions towards society and humanity. In that article, Dr. Mandayam Kumar of the Siddha Medical Research Institute, Bangalore says it was possible to find out details about Agathiyar during the course of literary research on the Siddha medical sciences in a Tamil manuscript written on Nadi or palm leaves about 3,000 years ago. The text is titled PRAPANCHA KAANDAM and runs into several volumes according to the Dr. The text is attributed to Lord Murugan. Agathiyar dictated the contents of the Nadi while his student Pulastyar recorded it.

The original Tamil manuscript of PRAPANCHA KAANDAM is in the care of Pandit S. Jayanari of Vellore says Dr. Mandayam Kumar. The Dr. briefly introduces Agathiyar and the Siddhas.

“Siddhars are those who have attained perfection in yogic practices to ultimately reach the stage of immortality. Through higher-level yogic practices, they attain a state of ultra-luminosity that results in invisibility; thus, they remain impervious to ordinary vision. Such Siddhars work incessantly for the propagation of knowledge and the evolution of souls.”

“Agathiyar Muni is considered to be the embodiment of one of the nine celestial intellectuals who came to this earth for enlightening human beings.”

Agathiyar reveals in the nadi that he has indeed taken birth many times to set humanity on the right track. Pon. Govindaswamy in his book, SIRSABAIYUM PORSABAIYUM, (Bharath Book Bureau, 1985), mentions that Agathiyar took birth as Valluvar and gave us the TIRUKURAL besides other texts. He mentions too that Agathiyar took birth as Ramalinga Adigal in the 19th century and gave us the THIRUARUTPA.

As his thirst for knowledge in particular on philosophy, yoga, medicine, and astronomy was immense, Agathiyar traveled all over Kashmir, Tibet, China, Nepal, and Kailas in Manchuria. (Mount Kailas was deemed to be in Manchuria those days). He became a disciple of Nandi and Dhanvantri.

He then traveled towards the south to Cambodia and Malaya (present day Malaysia). In Cambodia, he established the very first of his many educational institutions for the propagation of philosophy and science.

After establishing a similar institution and hospital in Malaya, he crossed the sea to the continent of Kumari Kandam (during Agathiyar’s time, Kumari Kandam occupied a vast area extending from the present day Sri Lanka to the Antarctic. Ravana, a great devotee of Lord Shiva, ruled this continent). King Ravana gave away a portion of his kingdom to Agathiyar to establish more institutions. The foremost of these institutions in this region was known as Arunodaya Giri or Meozone. Here Agathiyar practiced yoga and taught it to his large following of disciples.

Agathiyar then went back north to Malaya. He returned to Kumari Kandam where he met Lord Murugan in the form of Supramaniar at Trikona Malai (present day Trincomali). At the hill station called Kadari Kama or Kadhirgama, Lord Murugan imparted spiritual knowledge to Agathiyar.

Dr. Mandayam Kumar says Agathiyar could see impending calamities take place in the future during his meditation. As a result, he moved to the North Pole considering it to be a save place. This period of his move to the arctic was said to coincide with the end of the Dwapara Yuga placed at about 6580 BC. Just as he had seen of an impending calamity and had decided to move north, a tremendous explosion in the planet mars sends a piece of debris towards earth. This impact caused a great deluge on the earth. Significant portions of Kumari Kandam submerged into the Indian Ocean. Continental drift then resulted in the present day arrangement of this region.

After the great flood Kailas was no more but instead the Himalayan mountain range had emerged in north India.

Amidst all this geographical changes, says the Dr, Agathiyar went seeking for a place that would not be affected by future calamities. He located a mountain range in south India. This is the present day Courtalam. This spot is said to be the safest place and free from any future catastrophes.

Here Agathiyar met Lord Shiva and Uma in the form of Dhakshinamurthi and Shenbaga Devi. The spot where the meeting took place between Dhakshinamurthi, Shenbaga Devi, Lord Murugan, and Agathiyar was Mahadeva Giri. This meeting also signified the commencement of Kali Yuga.

Other Siddhas then started coming to Mahadeva Giri. Lord Dhakshinamurthi revived the knowledge of the Vedas and instructed these Siddhas to propagate this knowledge at the appropriate manner and time for the benefit of humanity. The imparting of this knowledge was said to have taken place on the 21 day of the Tamil month of Kartigai, during the eleventh year, Eswara Samvatsara, of Kali Yuga. Agathiyar gave much importance to this day. All his dating was reckoned from this day.

The Siddhas recorded their knowledge on palm leaves after extensive discussions held in Alagan Kulam and presented them to Lord Dhakshinamurthi for his perusal. This included the 64 kinds of learning, 18 Puranas, 96 tatvas, and 48 branches of scientific knowledge. The entire literature in Tamil came to be called SIDDHAVEDA.

Bhogar from China (Agathiyar in the Jeeva Nadi revelation to the late Jeeva Nadi Guru of Chennai says Bhogar was from Mongolia), Thaeraiyar from Malaya, Yugimuni from Kerala, Pulipani from Kantha Malai, Pulastyar, and Kapiyar all served Agathiyar.

The Siddhas went on to establish numerous institutions. An institution known as Siddhar Gnana Koodam was inaugurated by Lord Murugan and was headed by Agathiyar. Pulastyar and Kapilar headed the literary section while Pulipani in research. Thaeraiyar who was into surgery headed a medical research centre established at Thorana Malai. Yugimuni who was into herbal medicines headed an ayurvedic hospital at Paradesi Kundai. Bhogar who was in charge of all scientific researches established an alchemy research centre at Tiruparankundram. Pambatti was heading a team researching venom at Marudamalai.

After having established these institutions Agathiyar again started on an extensive mission of propagating the wealth of knowledge gained by these Siddhas in Tibet, Manchuria, Egypt, Palestine, Rome, America, Africa, Malaya and the Arab world.

After satisfactorily completing their mission of propagating the said teachings the Siddhas merged themselves into the cosmos. Supramaniar in Thorana Malai, Bhogar in Palani, Thaeraiyar, Pulipani and Yugimuni in Kantha Malai and Agathiyar himself choose to come back to Courtalam. He chose a spot called Dhashina Meru in the Pothigai hills. This spot is also the abode of Dhakshinamurthi.

M. Govindan in BABAJI AND THE 18 SIDDHA KRIYA YOGA TRADITION, (Kriyayoga Publications, Quebec, Canada, 1991), details Agathiyar's journey as starting at Agastya Ashram near Nasik (Pancavati in ancient times), and meeting up with Rama. Then his pilgrimage takes him south where he has a residence at Malakuta near Badami (ancient Vatapi Puram or Dakshina Kasi). Then he comes to Pothigai hills. He moves on to the Indonesian islands, Borneo, and takes up residence in Maha Malaya hill in Malaya Dvipa. He enters Siam (present day Thailand) and Cambodia.

Agathiyar is reported to be living until the present day at Courtalam.

Siddhas roamed the hills and jungles. Agathiyar explains the significance of these hills. Generally these hills are in abundance of herbs. A herb or a tree that grows in these hills has 100 times more potential than those grown or found in the plains. Considering this, temples were built on top of these hills, and man was directed to pray at these temples to reap these immense benefits. Agathiyar explains the benefits of walking and hiking up these hills too. A daily routine of going up and coming down the hills will rejuvenate all the 22,000 odd nerves in one's body. This is the physical benefit gained.

On the spiritual aspect, one's karma is reduced, based on the physical exhaustion and tiredness as a result of hiking up the hills. Together with contemplation and continuous prayers, karma is eventually reduced. When I was at Palani in 2003, I could not move my feet as I tried painfully to climb the hill temple. I was fit as a fiddle until then. But mysteriously I could not even budge an inch. I forced myself to take the steps, panting and struggling, until I collapsed on arrival at the top of Palani hill. I was conscious but extremely exhausted and drained out. It was only after some time that I came back to my normal state and could continue to have a darshan of Lord Murugan. Today I understand why I faced the difficulty climbing Palani. I had so much karma baggage that had to be dropped before the Lord would see me.

Agathiyar advocates many other ways to reduce one's karma. Agathiyar reveals that the Kallar Hills is a place where one's karma done in the past births, even karma done by the forefathers, and curses are very quickly reduced. Tavayogi too told me the reason he began performing the Yagam or the lighting of the sacrificial fire, was to help reduce the effects of natural calamities and to help reduce the karma of its participants. He name the Yagam appropriately as Sarva Dosa Nivaarana Maha Yagam. Mataji says many have returned to show their appreciation to Agathiyar, Tavayogi and the Jeeva Arul Nadi upon having their wishes fulfilled.

Agathiyar advocates that man adhere to honesty, perform service to mankind, do charity together with devotion, and surrender to the Almighty. Eventually man gain's Mukti. Mukti means achieving a high level or stature. The Atma, covered by possessiveness, illusion, ignorance, desires, selfishness, and motivation and hence trapped in a body and caught in Maya or illusion, takes repeated birth and eventually escapes the chain of rebirth thus gaining Mukti. Once these illusions are dropped there arises an opportunity to move closer to the Almighty. Man has to leave behind all that once brought him limited happiness and joy. Determination is required to acquire that state. Agathiyar has another piece of advise; not to fret over misfortunes and shortcomings of this material world but instead to seek a life of dignity, and to seek Moksha as the Rishis did.

Agathiyar ask to give away all things precious, by doing thus, the Almighty shall then give back in multi fold. He asks to not to be apprehensive that the resources on hand might deplete but assures that by giving, one does not lose anything, rather would be gaining. Lets start giving.

Agathiyar advises that one drop all bad tendencies, and worries, and approach him as a child would approach his mother, then Agathiyar promises to remove man's karma, show him a means and a way to perform dharma and charity, and to carry out prestigious deeds that merit good karma, and eventually will show him the path to the Almighty. Not differentiating the paths and believing all paths lead to one, only then can Agathiyar show him the Almighty.

Agathiyar accesses the minds of those who come to him and speaks to them accordingly. To those who come seeking to be taught Vasi Yogam, Agathiyar has a piece of advise too. Agathiyar emphasizes that unless the past karma of the person seeking guidance is reduced, it is rare that one will gain the fruits of practicing either Vasi Yogam nor any other related means to a deathless life. Agathiyar says it is of utmost importance that one 'cleans' his body before taking Yoga lessons. As far as Agathiyar is concerned he does not teach such difficult Yoga methods to seekers but instead sets them on a much simpler path, the path of devotion or Bakthi together with charity. Agathiyar says that he will decide the right time for the seeker to start him on Yoga and will take it upon himself personally to teach. Agathiyar has taught some, he says, but sadly they kept returning to the material world. Hence without relinquishing their hold on this material world, and without a generous heart, Vasi Yoga would be pointless, says Agathiyar.

Agathiyar promises that those who come earnestly seeking the Siddhas for a solution to their life's problems, praying that their fate should change and seeking peace or shanti, that if they listen to him and take heed of his advise, the Almighty shall slowly but surely bring positive changes in their lifes'. It is not possible to define the form of the all pervading the Almighty. Towards this having merged in a particular form of the Almighty, and later experiencing the formless the Almighty is known as Meignanam. Since all his creations are within him and the Almighty is without a single form, nor a single name, Agathiyar chooses to use the term ERAI for the Almighty. As this ERAI takes on various forms, it is good that an individual worships the form best suited to his temperament. Until an individual takes that one thought, cherishes it and lives the thought, dwelling deep into the one, seeing the one in all places and under all circumstances, only then has he realized ERAI. ERAI is beyond the stages of Saayucham, Saairoopam, Saailogam, Saameebam too.

Agathiyar says to realize this ERAI all that is required is honesty and generosity. With this two virtues and a dash of devotion one can realize ERAI.
