THE SIDDHAS COME KNOCKING ON OUR DOOR PART 2

The Siddhas and Erai show their presence through numerous miracles from the simplest gesture of providing an umbrella to the ultimate fulfillment of the desire in attaining enlightenment. My colleague Muralitharan Saminathan and I used  to frequent the vegetarian restaurants in Brickfields often during our lunch break. Once just as we drove into Brickfields it suddenly rained cats and dogs. Murali parked his car in the lane between the Sri Karpaga Vinayagar temple and the row of shop houses where the restaurant was. We could not get out of the car as he did not have an umbrella in the car. We waited. Suddenly the thought strike me if Agathiyar would provide us with an umbrella, as Agathiyar was in the form of a bronze statue at this temple. I then told Murali that Agathiyar was there in the temple. Murali turned to me and asked, "What! Do you suppose Agathiyar will give us an umbrella?". Almost instantly a man who was all these while waiting in front of the restaurant, started walking towards us with an umbrella. We thought he was another customer making his way back. Suddenly he stopped short of the car door and indicated us to step out! He lead us to the restaurant where Murali and I sat looking at each other in amazement! Agathiyar did come knocking on our door - this time it was a car door!

Following the path of devotion and compassion from young, Ramalinga Adigal pleads to Erai to open the door to his Kingdom, through his devotional rendering the THIRU ARUTPA, 10 beautiful verses (3832 - 3841) titled SIVAYOGANILAI.

The most compassionate Erai, instead, comes seeking him at his abode in the dark of the night and hands him 'something' in his hands! Ramalinga Adigal sings 100 verses (3060 - 3159) describing this moment in his ARUTPRAKASA MAALAI.

Eventually Erai gives him the key to his Kingdom and the staff of authority to carry out his five duties.
